I'm trying to replace the grox with one of my own creatures...
one problem. when I unpack pollination.package, I do not get any .crt files or any other required files. all I get are .summary files.
so am I unpacking it wrong? how do I get required files?

Remember that all mods available here REQUIRE Spore: Galactic Adventures AND patch 5.1. Patch 6\Bot Parts does NOT include Patch 5.1! (Some may work on other setups, but this is recommended)
Can't get a mod to work? Feel free to ask for help, there's always someone around to help out. Just make sure to include the following information:
a) Did you install Spore from Steam, Origin, or a Disk?
b) Is your game patched to the latest version?
c) Do you have Galactic Adventures?
d) If so, is it also patched to the latest version?
e) Where did you install the mod to?
f) What is the file's current name in the folder you installed it to?
This information is needed for us to help you!

Your creatures are in editorsaves, not pollination.
Spore is creative, even the mods and hacks.
Or, should I say, especially the mods and hacks?

I know this is an old thread, but I am trying again, and I unpack EditorSaves.package... but I get no .crt files...
I do however get .bem files and .png files... but I cannot get my creature.

The bem, png, and other file types in that folder create the CRT file, it isn't directly accessible.

I don't know if it's necessary but load your creature in an adventure so it generates a .gmdl file.

Hey guys I was here to speak with Davo in Private but while I was here I figure Ill help out a little...Anyway to Replace the Grox follow this Tut
1.Backup Or Delete it if you choose Game0 File.[When starting the Game will create a New one]
2.Backup Or Delete it if you choose pollination.package [Again it will Auto Create]
3.Unpack your Editor Save Package [Find the Creature you want to replace the Grox with[It Should have about 5 files with the Same Numbers.
Example
#11675C06.#0F43029A
#11675C06.bem
#11675C06.Png
#11675C06.pollen_metadata
#11675C06.summary
4.Now place these Files in the Folder called #40626200.
5.Now Find the Grox File in "Gametuning"
[Find this Line:<key name="grobSpecies" groupid="#40626200" instanceid="#11675C06" typeid="crt" />
6.Change The Instance ID to the Number of the Creature you want to replace the Grox with.
Restart your new Galaxy and Now The Grox are Replaced.
Warning this Caused a few Problems rewriting the Grox Code.So use at your own risk!Dont blame me if something goes wrong!
To change The Grox Vehicles and Buildings its the same way.
