BEFORE YOU POST...

Remember that all mods available here REQUIRE Spore: Galactic Adventures AND patch 5.1. Patch 6\Bot Parts does NOT include Patch 5.1! (Some may work on other setups, but this is recommended)

Can't get a mod to work? Feel free to ask for help, there's always someone around to help out. Just make sure to include the following information:
a) Did you install Spore from Steam, Origin, or a Disk?
b) Is your game patched to the latest version?
c) Do you have Galactic Adventures?
d) If so, is it also patched to the latest version?
e) Where did you install the mod to?
f) What is the file's current name in the folder you installed it to?
This information is needed for us to help you!

I get this error sometimes when trying to unpack a package. Does anyone know what it means?

oh that is common, as you said sometimes right. remember that spore master is a fan made program and like all programs, it is bound to have problems.

dont remember seeing you around much, welcome, and thanks for the post!

Yes, I am new. This is my first attempt at modding the game, I'm trying to unpack all the packages that seem necessary. Is there a list somewhere of which ones contain what?

Is this error then at least not a big deal? It seems to happen all the time with certain packages. Is the package still extracted properly if this error happens?

i had the same problem. some users cannot unpack everything.

me and a few others here will be happy to help. as far as what contains what... its all combined randomly, unless it is a patch.

Oh ok, thanks for the help. I had another question, Is there any way to rename the particular .prop files in a mod?

yes, after you have selected the file you want to mod, hit the modify button at the top right. then hit explore right.

that shows you your modded files in your mod in the folder you are in.

you are on your own there. i will not tell you how to navigate your own pc.

hitting explore left will open the default files so NEVER do that. i have never needed to open them so dont. the default files are the fresh files that you open when creating a new mod.

Be careful were you step, I've booby-trapped your whole room, the next step you take might be your last, either that or you'll step on the party activator button, if so then PARTY TIME! :mrgreen:

I have been working on a mod that changes damage/power/refresh of the warrior weapons and came across 2 unknown variables on the missiles .prop file that do not exist on any of the other weapons.

First: I have no idea what this is.
Second: Missiles have a chance to do double damage, I'm guessing this is the % chance for that to happen.

Does anyone happen to know what either, or both, of these properties do?

the first one is the amount of damage the effect does like being poisoned or burning etc...

the second, i cant rememeber.

Hmmm, that's weird... you mean extra damage? I didn't notice that missiles did any extra damage, and for all the other weapons the damage is listed as "creatureAbilityDamage".

Edit: Now that I look at it again I think the first one might be the % chance to do double damage and the second one might be the diameter of the area of affect.

Also, for some reason, the missiles and lightning strike don't seem to be working at all even though the energy strike and pulse work fine. At least the damage isn't changing at all, I'll have to check about the power by making it a larger more noticeable amount. There should be only one file per weapon per rank, correct?

look at DVDs mods, he had this same problem i believe. it took a while to explain, but opening the mod may explain it.

I did that and it seems that even in his mod the missiles do not work. Also changing the name of the lightning files without touching anything else causes them to no longer work; however the plasma and energy slash will work regardless of name.
I noticed he had some extra files of some sort but they don't appear to do anything since deleting them without changing anything else does not change the function of anything in game.
Minus the extra files his mod files are exactly the same as mine in every way other than the damage/power/refresh values and the actual file name.

Take your time in replying, I know I ask a lot of questions but I'm not in any rush.

What I'm trying to do is convert the current values below (The % is power efficiency, DPS is damage per second and the number after the @ is refresh speed):

Energy Slash: (Rank3 100% / 51.43 DPS)
Level 1 - 30 damage for 55 energy @ 1.44
Level 2 - 50 damage for 70 energy @ 1.50
Level 3 - 90 damage for 90 energy @ 1.75

Lightning Strike: (Rank3 85% / 54.76 DPS)
Level 1 - 35 damage for 80 energy @ 1.50
Level 2 - 70 damage for 110 energy @ 1.75
Level 3 - 115 damage for 135 energy @ 2.10

Plasma Pulsar: (Rank3 44% / 22.00 DPS)
Level 1 - 20 damage for 80 energy @ 1.55
Level 2 - 35 damage for 100 energy @ 1.90
Level 3 - 55 damage for 125 energy @ 2.50

Missile Flinger: (Rank3 41% / 22.50 DPS)
Level 1 - 35 damage for 150 energy @ 3.00
Level 2 - 60 damage for 175 energy @ 3.50
Level 3 - 90 damage for 220 energy @ 4.00


To these new values:

Energy Slash: (All Ranks 100% / 50 DPS)
Rank 1: 50 damage for 50 energy @ 1.00
Rank 2: 75 damage for 75 energy @ 1.50
Rank 3: 100 damage for 100 energy @ 2.00

Lightning Strike: (All Ranks 75% / 60 DPS)
Rank 1: 60 damage for 80 energy @ 1.00
Rank 2: 90 damage for 120 energy @ 1.50
Rank 3: 120 damage for 160 energy @ 2.00

Plasma Pulsar: (All Ranks 50% / 40 DPS)
Rank 1: 40 damage for 80 energy @ 1.00
Rank 2: 60 damage for 120 energy @ 1.50
Rank 3: 80 damage for 160 energy @ 2.00

Missile Flinger: (All Ranks 50% / 30 DPS)
Rank 1: 50 damage for 100 energy @ 2.00
Rank 2: 75 damage for 150 energy @ 3.00
Rank 3: 100 damage for 200 energy @ 4.00
